A-brands lose market share
Supermarkets’ own brands are gaining in popularity and this trend will continue because of the economic crisis, according to a survey by Foodmagazine.
Turnover from premium A-brands rose 5.1% last year compared with an overall increase in supermarket sales of 7.2%, the magazine says.
Among the brands that did do well in 2008 are Beemster (cheese), Chocomel (chocolate milk) and Hak (preserved vegetables).
