Wyeth and Crucell in takeover talks

Biotech firm Crucell and US pharmaceuticals giant Wyeth are in friendly takeover talks, the Leiden-based firm confirmed on Thursday.

The Wall Street Journal says Wyeth has made a preliminary offer of $1.35bn for Crucell, but the company refused to comment. That price would represent a 32% premium on Crucell’s Wednesday closing price.
Crucell, which develops vaccines, made a profit for the first time in its 15-year history in the third quarter of last year, says the Financieele Dagblad.
