Steel company Corus is working on a major revamp of its IJmuiden operations which could lead to up to 1,000 job losses, steelworkers union FNV Bondgenoten told news agency ANP on Wednesday.
‘The reduction in jobs means a 10% reduction in production staffing levels and 20% in support services,’ the union says in a letter to members.
‘Considering the total workforce is 9,500 this is an extremely large reduction in the workforce.’
