Pension age increase ‘unavoidable’
An increase in the state pension age, currently 65, will be unavoidable, the top civil servant at the economic affairs ministry says in his traditional New Year’s essay.
Writing in the economists’ magazine ESB, Chris Buijink also says that 2009 will be an ‘especially difficult year’. But in order to secure future economic growth ‘it remains necessary to get people to work more,’ he was reported as saying by news agency ANP.
