More drivers lost their licence in 2008

A record number of drivers had their driving licence confiscated in 2008 for speeding and bad driving, according to figures released on Tuesday.

Last year 5,600 drivers lost their licences, a rise of 5% on 2007.
‘The police now know where and when offences are likely to occur,’ public prosecutor Martijn Boelhouwer told the AD. ‘The chance of getting caught is greater.’
