January was cold, sunny and dry

January 2009 has been the coldest month in the Netherlands for 12 years, the KNMI weather bureau said on Friday.


The average temperature this month was 0.7 Celsius, compared with an average January temperature of 2.8 Celsius.
The south of the country was far colder than the north, with sub zero temperatures on 22 days.
