Feyenoord now out of Dutch cup

The misery continued for Rotterdam football club Feyenoord on Tuesday night with a 0-3 defeat by Heerenveen in the last 16 of the Dutch cup.

The titleholder also lost 3-1 to Heerenveen in the league this weekend.
Last week the club lost trainer Gertjan Verbeek because the players had completely lost confidence in him. Feyenoord is currently 12th in the premier division and failed to make it through in either the Champions League or Uefa cup.
Feyenoord can no longer be treated with a few pills, the Telegraaf said on its website. ‘Only a major operation offers any hope. And given the limited financial resources at its disposal, its focus this season must be on staying in the premier division,’ the paper said.
In last night’s other cup match, Doetinchem club De Graafschap beat FC Dordrecht 1-0 for a place in the quarter finals.
