Digital medical records to be delayed

The introduction of digital medical records for all patients is to be delayed, possibly by six months, health minister Ab Klink told MPs on Thursday.

The controversial system was due to be launched nationwide in September.
Earlier, the Telegraaf said that a delay would be logical because of changes to the system demanded by MPs. In particular, the IT system does not meet requirements and there are problems with guaranteeing patient privacy, the paper said.
Almost all MPs support the new system which is intended to make it easier for doctors, hospital and pharmacy staff to access and exchange health records.
