Circulation falls at national dailies

National and regional daily newspapers saw their circulation drop by 2.4% in the third quarter of 2008 compared with the same period in 2007. Total circulation was 3,597,767 in 2008.


The figures, published on Tuesday by the circulation institute HOI show that regional Christian newspapers booked growth of around 2% and the youth-orientated tabloid NRC.next grew by 1.4%.
But the NRC itself saw its circulation fall by 5.2% and the Financieele Dagblad, which grew by 9.7% in the first quarter of 2008, fell by 0.7%.
