Canon to cut jobs in Amstelveen

Camera and copier maker Canon is to shift 226 jobs from Amstelveen to its European strategic headquarters in London, the company confirmed on Tuesday.

‘We are not closing the offices in Amstelveen. It will continue be a key part of our operations. We are transferring some roles from Amstelveen to London, which has already been our strategic headquarters for Europe, the Middle East and Africa since it opened in 2001,’ said a Canon spokeswoman.
Around 500 employees working in IT and logistics will continue to be based at Canon Europa in Amstelveen, the company said. Canon’s local sales and marketing company in Hoofddorp, which employs 451 people, is not affected.
