Lawyer Gerard Spong says the justice department will provide him with bodyguards because of the torrent of hate mails he has received about his stand on anti-immigration MP Geert Wilders reports Friday’s Volkskrant.

Last week, Amsterdam appeal court ruled that Wilders should be prosecuted for inciting hatred.
Spong was one of the parties who asked the court to decide if the MP should be prosecuted.
Wilders, who himself has state protection, said he condemns the threats against Spong. ‘Even though I am standing opposite him in the court room, no-one deserves this,’ he told the Volkskrant.
