Alitalia agrees to Air France-KLM offer

Struggling Italian airline Alitalia has agreed to Air France-KLM’s bid to buy a 25% stake in the company for €322m.

The deal makes the French and Dutch airline group the biggest shareholder in Alitalia. Last year they wanted to take over the Italian company but prime minister Silvio Berlusconi made his opposition to the plan part of his election campaign.
Since then, Alitalia has been reorganised and 7,000 jobs have gone, the NRC reports.
