ABN Amro book ‘compulsory reading’
A book about the decline and subsequent takeover of ABN Amro bank should be compulsory reading for some civil servants, finance minister Wouter Bos says in his weblog.
The book De Prooi (the prey) by Jeroen Smit is now ‘compulsory reading for all finance ministry civil servants who are involved with the future of the bank. And for [CEO] Gerrit Zalm,’ Bos wrote.
Zalm, a former finance minister, is in charge of merging ABN Amro Nederland and Fortis. Both banks were nationalised in October.
The book will be published in English in March.
