Union chief is most influential woman

Agnes Jongerius, head of the trade union federation FNV, has moved up to sixth place in this year’s ranking of most influential people in the Netherlands published by the Volkskrant.

This makes her the first woman to reach the top 10, the paper reported on Saturday.
The number of women in the top 200 list has risen by just three this year to 32. Jongerius has in the past called for a legal quota for women in senior positions so that they account for 40% in four years time.
Alexander Rinnooy Kan, chairman of the government’s socio-economic advisory body SER remains in the number one spot.
