Smoking ban does not boost bankruptcies
Just 30 cafes have gone bankrupt since the ban on smoking was introduced on July 1, most of which were larger enterprises, the AD newspaper reports on Monday.
The hotel and catering sector had warned that up to 3,000 cafes and bars could close because of the ban. In particular, small operations are said to be vulnerable.
Brewing group Heineken told the AD it has noticed a small downturn in beer sales but blamed the economic situation for the development.
