Rotterdam tops list of murders in 2008

Rotterdam was the murder capital of the Netherlands in 2008, reports Tuesday’s Telegraaf.

With 21 people killed in acts of violence, the city beat Amsterdam with 19 murders into second place. In 2007, there were 28 murders in the capital.
But police figures released on Tuesday show that violent deaths have dropped slightly in Rotterdam, down from 23 in 2007.
Ten people were murdered in Utrecht in 2008 and eight in The Hague where a police spokesman said it was ‘an historically low figure’, says the Telegraaf.
