Railway firms to work together more closely
Train operating service NS and track operator and maintenance group Prorail are to begin working more closely together again, the Volkskrant reports on Tuesday.
The state-owned companies were created in 2001 when NS was forced to separate its different operations, but say a closer alliance will serve passengers better.
‘Over the past few years, both companies have profiled themselves as competely separate companies. But they have a joint social responsibility – operating one of the busiest railway networks in the world,’ NS transport director Ingrid Thijssen told the paper.
