People like the Christmas story
The number of people who value the religious aspects of Christmas has risen again this year, according to a survey by Q&A Research.
The figure this year is 51%, up from 47% in 2007 and 43% in 2006.
The rise does not mean more people will attend church at Christmas. The number of churchgoers is 29%, the same as 2007.
The number of households with a Christmas tree has risen from 75% in 2007 to 83% this year.
This may be due to the fact more people are staying at home. According to the NBTC tourist board, 800,000 people are going away for the Christmas break this year, 100,000 fewer than normal.
And some 45% of holidaymakers are staying in the Netherlands.
