Amsterdam district court today opens detailed hearings in the appeal of alleged crime boss Willem Holleeder and several other defendants found guilty a year ago of blackmailing four businessmen.

Holleeder was sentenced to nine years in jail for blackmail. Two of the alleged victims, including property magnate Willem Endstra, are dead.
