Handicapped girl death investigated

The public prosecution department is investigating the death of an eight-year-old mentally handicapped girl who has been found dead in bed in a care home in Vlissingen.

There are no immediate indications that a crime has been committed, but ‘an eight-year-old child does not just die like that,’ a spokesman for the department told the NRC.
The girl and her sister were both taken into care in August. The girls are said to be autistic and to make a great deal of noise at night.
Neighbours of the home where the girls were being looked after told the paper they had heard much more noise than normal at around 5am.
