Fog causes chaos nationwide

Morning fog caused long traffic jams and delayed flights at Schiphol airport on Tuesday, reports news site Nu.nl.

Traffic jams during the morning rush hour reached nearly 400 kilometres and Schiphol cancelled 20 European flights. The airport is warning of delays because the fog reduces visibility, leading to fewer flights.
There was also a bad accident on the N9 near Schagen when a lorry carrying cement blocks overturned and one of the blocks hit a car. One passenger has been taken to hospital with slight injuries. The other passengers were unhurt, says Nu.nl.
Police say the N9 between Alkmaar and Den Helder will be closed for some time while wreckage is removed.
