Exotic turtles found on coast

Two Loggerhead sea turtles (caretta caretta) have washed ashore along the Netherlands coast in the last two months, reports news site Nu.nl on Thursday.

One was found in North Holland, the other in Zeeland. Both were young animals and have been transferred to local zoos to recuperate. Loggerhead turtles are usually found in the Atlantic ocean and Mediterranean sea.
Meanwhile, a humped back whale has been spotted of the coast of the Dutch seaside resort of Egmond. Humped back whales are usually found in the bigger oceans. The young whale is between eight and 10 metres long and in good condition, says news agency ANP.
