Amsterdam phases out the wheel clamp

The wheel clamp is a thing of the past in Amsterdam from Tuesday after 25 years of use in the capital.

The city has decided not to use the clamp in an effort to boost its image as a hospitable place to visit. Clamps will still be used for hardened offenders who have at least five unpaid fines.
Last year, 22,000 vehicles were clamped.
