Ajax confirms Huntelaar Madrid talks

Amsterdam football club Ajax has confirmed it is in talks with Real Madrid on a possible transfer of Dutch striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar.

The announcement appeared on its website on Tuesay morning replacing an earlier denial of Spanish media speculation that a deal was imminent.
Ajax’s latest statement says that while talks are taking place with the Spanish club there is ‘no question’ of an agreement at this stage.
Earlier reports claim Real Madrid are willing to pay €20m for Huntelaar.
Spanish newspapers say that the 25-year-old international will replace Ruud van Nistelrooy, who is out for the rest of the season with a knee problem.
Huntelaar, whose contract with Ajax expires in June 2010, is currently recovering from an ankle injury.
