Yacht owners owe €31m in Dutch taxes
The Dutch tax authorities are owed €31m by luxury yacht owners who have not paid btw (value added tax), reports Monday’s Telegraaf.
The tax fraud came to light during a Europe-wide investigation led by Dutch and French customs and excise officers, says the paper.
Of the 322 yachts investigated, 300 owners had avoided paying tax, mainly through cross-border lease arrangements or charter constructions, the paper says.
The total amount owed to European tax authorities is €128m.
