US election prompts text message surge

The US election prompted many people in the Netherlands to send text messages between 1pm on Tuesday night and 6am on Wednesday.


Telecom firm Vodaphone reported a 15% increase in text traffic during the seven hour period with a surge of 38% in the hour between 5am and 6am, when Barack Obama was confirmed as president elect.
