‘Troops will leave Afghanistan in 2010’

The Netherlands will keep to its present agreement not to send more troops to Afghanistan and to withdraw its soldiers from the country at the end of 2010, foreign affairs minister Maxime Verhagen told parliament on Thursday.

Verhagen said this would remain the case even if the new US president Barak Obama asks for more military help in Afghanistan, reports ANP news service.
The Netherlands has around 1,700 soldiers in the southern Afghan province of Uruzgan.
