Unemployment has fallen by an average of 2,000 a month over the past half year, compared with 6,000 a month in 2007, says the national statistics office CBS.

There were 276,000 people on the official unemployment register in the third quarter of this year, equivalent to 3.6% of the working population. A year earlier, the figure was 4%.
