Shops to get tough on teen drinkers

Supermarkets have agreed that customers who look younger than the age of 20 will have to provide identity papers to prove they are over the legal minimum age of 16 for buying alcohol as from next March.


Supermarkets have come under repeated fire from MPs and health experts for being too lax in selling beer and pre-mixed cocktails to those under 16.
