Shareholders turn against Fortis
Fortis shareholders are threatening to vote against the reinstatement of two of its commissioners, says Tuesday’s Financieele Dagblad. They will do so on the advice of voting adviser RiskMetrics.
According to RiskMetrics, the commissioners, Jan-Michiel Hessels and Philippe Bodson, failed to look after the shareholders’ interests. Hessels, who took over from Maurice Lippens as CEO, and Bodson were involved in crisis negotiations and the sale of shares, says the FD.
Fortis is holding an extraordinary general meeting next month and has asked shareholders to approve the reinstatement and plans to allow it to continue trading.
