PSV loses, European hopes receed
The likelihood that PSV will continue to play in Europe after the winter break shrunk significantly following the Eindhoven team’s 3-0 defeat by France’s Olympique Marseille on Tuesday evening.
Marseille lost the first leg in the Champions League group match 2-0.
National champions PSV and Marseille are now on three points at the bottom of their group but the French team is ahead on goal difference. The top two teams go through to the Champions League knock out round, the number three joins the UEFA Cup competition in the spring.
