Nick Leeson turned down Essent job
Nick Leeson, the former trader who caused the collapse of the Britain’s Barings Bank in 1995, was offered a job as a risk manager with the Dutch energy firm Essent when he came out of jail, reports the NRC.
During a lecture at Nijmegen university, Leeson (41) said he turned down the offer because he was not ready for the job so soon after spending 4.5 years in prison, the paper says.
Leeson is currently director of the Irish football club Galway Club.
