NIBC gets government credit guarantee

Merchant bank NIBC is to issue a €1bn three-year bond which will be guaranteed by the Dutch government, the bank said on Friday.

The government has set aside €200bn to guarantee inter-bank lending which it hopes will stimulate movement in the financial sector.
NIBC is the second organisation to make use of the guarantee plan. Earlier this week, Volkswagen affiliate Leaseplan said it had been given a guarantee on €1.5bn worth of loans.
