New energy is key to green policy: VVD
The discovery of new sources of energy should be the core of Dutch environmental policy, not just reducing consumption, according to the new ‘right-wing green’ manifesto published by the Liberal party VVD on Monday.
‘What is the point of increasing taxes on diesel in the Netherlands if millions of people in Asia are buying cars?’ VVD leader Mark Rutte said in the Telegraaf.
Instead, the Netherlands should focus on developing new sources of energy and the government should give entrepreneurs the room to innovate and provide financial support to risky inventions, Rutte said.
