Mortgage rates rise due to credit crisis
Banks are increasing the extra premium levied on top of variable mortgage interest rates because of the credit crisis, the Volkskrant reports on Tuesday.
The paper says mortgage provider Obvion has raised its levy from 0.65% to 1.35% and some Rabobank mortgages have also gone up.
ABN Amro, Westland Utrecht and Nationale Nederland are also considering increases, the paper says.
Fortis Nederland, which is offering a 6.8% variable interest rate which is 2.2% above the standard tariff, the paper says.
