Minister survives vote on €200m project

Housing minister Ella Vogelaar easily survived a vote of no confidence in parliament on Thursday evening over her handling of a project by a Rotterdam housing corporation to convert a ship into a hotel and conference complex.

MPs accused Vogelaar of failing to control the costs of Woonbron’s project for the SS Rotterdam which shot up from an initial €6m to €200m within three years.
However only the anti-immigration PVV party and the independent right-wing MP Rita Verdonk supported the vote of no confidence, submitted by the Socialists.
