First birth rate rise in in seven years
Some 140,000 babies were born in the first nine months of this year, around 3% more than in the same period in 2007, says the national statistics office CBS.
The increase is the first rise in the birth rate since 2000, the CBS says. Four out of 10 babies are born to unmarried mothers.
