Ex-AFM boss, ex-minister to Aegon board

The former chairman of the financial services authority AFM Arthur Docters van Leeuwen and ex-transport minister Karla Peijs have been appointed to the supervisory board of insurance group Aegon by the government.

The appointment was announced by finance minister Wouter Bos on Thursday. The government can name two of the supervisory board under terms agreed when it gave Aegon a capital injection of €3bn last month to help it cope with the worldwide credit crisis.
Peijs is already a member of Aegon’s supervisory board but will now represent the government’s interests. Docters van Leeuwen is currently head of the Holland Financial Centre lobby group.
