Rik van den Boog is set to become the new general director of Amsterdam football club Ajax, according to Tuesday’s Trouw.

Van den Boog (49), whose career as a footballer at Ajax was ended by an ankle injury, is co-owner of The Entertainment Group which manages stars such as Marco Borsato.
His appointment has to be confirmed at a shareholders meeting on December 3, but Trouw says this is a formality. He will take up his new position on January 1.
