Dutch journalist released in Afghanistan

A Dutch journalist, Joanie de Rijke, who was kidnapped in Afghanistan last Saturday has been released, report various media on Friday afternoon. The kidnapping was kept out of the media for security reasons.


De Rijke, who lives in Belgium, was snatched by an unknown group while on assignment in Kabul for the Belgian magazine P.
De Rijcke is ‘emotional, but physically alright’ and has been taken to the Dutch embassy in Kabul, Günther van Hassel, editor of the magazine told reporters.
