Don’t phone me register gets green light
The upper house of parliament on Tuesday voted in favour of setting up of a register of people who do not want to be contacted by telephone sales firms.
The senate also accepted changes to the telecoms law preventing phone companies from keeping clients to one-year contracts. Instead, consumers will be able to give one month notice if they want to switch to another provider.
The change in the law also bans the sending of spam, or unwanted emails, to companies. Sending spam to individuals is already illegal in the Netherlands.
