The government is to take action on what MPs say are excessive charges by debt collection agencies, the Volkskrant reports.


Legal aid lawyers estimate the agencies over-charge debtors by €130m a year.
But justice minister Ernst Hirsch Ballin says he will not back the introduction of fees based on a percentage of the debt because this would make in unprofitable to follow up the payemnt of small sums.
