Cafes to photograph smoking ban inspectors
Cafe and bar owners in the southern city of Tilburg say they will photograph and circulate pictures of health and safety inspectors who are monitoring adherence to the smoking ban, the AD newspaper reports on Thursday.
The paper says some 1,400 cafe and bar owners have now joined the Buigen of Barsten (‘bend or break’) action committee which is fighting the ban.
Meanwhile, the national statistics office CBS reports that turnover in the hospitality sector fell 0.7% in the third quarter of 2008.
Restaurants saw sales down 1.7% while cafes and bars booked 1.8% less turnover. The smoking ban was introduced on July 1.
