Becoming Dutch to get more expensive
The cost of becoming Dutch will go up sharply to €552 for an adult in 2010, justice minister Ernst Hirsch Ballin said on Thursday.
The minister is also planning to introduce a naturalisation fee of €83 for those under18 who become Dutch.
At the moment children are free, people on low incomes pay €243 for a Dutch passport and the cost for rest will be €366.
Hirsch Ballin is increasing the fees so that the entire cost of becoming Dutch is passed on to the individual, news agency ANP reported him as saying.
