Amsterdam appoints official storyteller
Amsterdam is the first local council in the Netherlands to appoint an official city storyteller, says Friday’s Volkskrant.
Karel Baracs, alias the Storyman, was a primary school teacher for 16 years before becoming a professional full-time storyteller in 1990, the paper says.
As well as telling people about the city’s history and talking about the future, the Storyman will look for urban tales and write stories for specific occasions.
