Finance minister Wouter Bos will decide later this month what the government’s future role should be in ABN Amro, Fortis Bank and Fortis Insurance, said the chairman of the ABN Amro works council in Tuesday’s Financieele Dagblad.

The minister has to decide whether to merge the two banks and what, if any, units to sell off.
The government nationalised ABN Amro and Fortis at the beginning of October.
