23 arrests in marijuana plantation raids
Cross-border action by Dutch and Belgian police resulted in 23 arrests for cannabis offences on Tuesday.
Dutch police raided 36 homes and properties in various parts of the southern province of Brabant, but also in Aalsmeer, Badhoevedorp, Huizen, Arnhem and Amsterdam. The Dutch made 18 arrests.
The focus on the campaign was Tilburg, close to the Belgian border, where 11 plantations and a drying room were found, the Volkskrant reports. Some 10 houses, a riding stable and several luxury cars were sequestered by the authorities.
The paper says the main suspect is a 53-year-old horse breeder from Kaatsheuvel.
