Pensions are safe says Dutch bank

The Dutch do not need to worry about their pensions, says the country’s central bank which estimates that the total pension fund contains €700bn while annual pension payments are running at around €20bn.

However, despite the bank’s claim the pension system is robust, the pension sector is asking it to relax its supervisory demands for the sale of high-risk investments during the financial crisis, reports Thursday’s Financieele Dagblad.
The pension funds have lost a combined €100bn on the stock market this year, reports the paper.
