One in seven kids experience ‘shock’

One in seven children have been confronted with a ‘shocking event’, such as the death of a relative or violence, says Utrecht University researcher Eva Alisic.

The survey, believed to be the first survey of its kind in the Netherlands, involved 1,770 children aged between eight and 12. Some 15% have suffered post-traumatic stress, according to Alisic.
