Offshore wind turbines animal unfriendly
The hammering of piles into the sea-bed to support offshore wind turbines is seriously damaging to marine life, according to Wageningen University’s Imares institute.
Each thump results in 200 decibels of noise which can be deadly to porpoises and seals a kilometre away, the institute says. It also kills fish larvae, say the researchers.
